  • End of term

    Fri 14 Feb 2020 Mr D Perkins

It's been a lovely end of term with so many exciting moments.

Tuesday was our third Enrichment Day of the year and children were enjoying the range of activities on offer around school.

On Thursday we presented achievement certificates to two children from each class who have impressed their teachers over the last 6 weeks.

Friday's assembly brought us together to see who would winning the Inter House trophy for dance.  The standard of dancing was amazing, and the three judges had a very hard decision on choosing a winner.   By a very narrow margin, we congratulated Ireland House as winners. All four dances can be viewed in our Video Resource Centre.

Meanwhile, children from Lady Hawkins' and some of our own Eco Warriors met the display some of the pledges children had written on painted hearts. These will be displayed about town.  The children's ideas and messages are really well considered.

Despite the rain, Reception class invited their Year 3 Buddies to join them for a welly-walk to the Rec to find the different settings from 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'.  Both classes had fun, especially in the mud, and it was nice to share a biscuit snack at the end of walk.

A busy week to end the half term. We hope everyone enjoys their half-term break.  See back on Monday 24th February!

  • Party Time

Fri 07 Feb 2020 Mrs AC Phillips
The Friends of Kington Primary School turned the school hall into a disco for the children this evening and they had a fantastic time singing, dancing and just having fun together. The photographs do not do justice to the atmosphere in the hall but it was a brilliant way to end the week. Thank you to our small but enthusiastic group of 'Friends' and our resident DJ!
  • Patience and Celebrations

Thu 06 Feb 2020 Mrs ACL Phillips
We began assembly today by saying congratulations to our amazing indoor athletics team who had qualified for the Herefordshire Winter Games and in the finals yesterday were placed sixth. A fantastic achievement. Across school children receiving Headteacher Awards really matched with our value of the month 'Patience' as many of them were chosen for their quite, determined and patient approach to learning. Our Reception class received the 'Lunchtime Award' for brilliant manners and super behaviour. It was an assembly full of congratulations. Well done everyone.
  • Who let the dogs out?

    Wed 05 Feb 2020 Mr D Perkins

It has been a lovely treat to welcome Keri from the Dogs Trust to school for part of the week. She has worked with all the children in school, either through assemblies or classroom workshops, to share valuable lessons about being responsible dog owners.  Keri also helped us with how to approach and behave with dogs; remembering that, just like humans, every dog is different.

There were also exciting choices to make on Tuesday as we welcomed back the £2 pop-up Book Shop to the hall.  The children really value books and there were so many beautiful books to choose from.  It was lovely to see famillies choosing together at the end of the school day too.

The sunshine has also put a wag into our tails this week, as we continue to take children to the Rec for Running Club ; a lunchtime opportunity to run around the beautiful park.  Many of these children are also in their final preparations for the upcoming Lucton Cross Country running event.
