  • It's Friday

    Fri 30 Nov 2018 Mrs A Phillips

The children in Year Five took part in a 'Spelling Bee' competition learning some really tricky and interesting words. It is organised by Lady Hawkins'our local High School and we were delighted when two of our teams were awarded First and Second place. Congratulations, what an achievement.

The sun shone for our running club who braced the rather chilly weather for a lunch time run.

  • Whole school Reading focus day

Tue 27 Nov 2018 Mrs Bretherton
We had a super day sharing our favourite books with our class-mates and our Buddy classes.  Year 5 made some 'free writing' books for Year 1, who are really excited to get writing as it is their book to write about anything they want to!  Year 1 had also been very busy creating beautiful bookmarks for Year 5 as have lots of the other classes.  There was certainly a 'reading buzz' around school today!
  • Children In Need

    Fri 16 Nov 2018 Mrs A Phillips

Along with celebrating the children who received Head Teacher stickers for their work and contribution to school over the past week we said congratulations to our netball team who came 2nd and 3rd respectively at the LHS netball tournament yesterday. They played brilliantly.

We also raised £200 for Children in Need by swapping our uniform socks and tights for something a little more unusual! Thank you everyone for supporting such a worthy cause.

  • Remembrance Parade

    Tue 13 Nov 2018 Mrs A Phillips
It was such a privilege to be part of the Remembrance Service at St Marys' and to take part in the parade that saw so many organisations from Kington, and a visiting Scout group, lay wreaths to mark this especially poignant day marking 100 years since the end of WW1.
  • Remembrance Assembly - 100 years

    Fri 09 Nov 2018 Mr D Perkins

As this year marks the centenary of the end of the First World War, Year 6 lead our remembrance assembly at St Mary's Church today.  It was a truly special moment and the children helped us all to stop, remember and reflect on the past, but also to hope for a better future.

Year 6 read some of their letters, accounts and poetry to us, with scenes being recreated in creative silhouettes.

We want to thank Reverend Ben for welcoming us into St Marys'. They have created a remarkable scene in and around the church using poppies made by people from all over the community. It is such an amazing spectacle. Our children were delighted to see their poppies flowing from the font as they entered church today.

  • Headteacher's Awards

    Thu 08 Nov 2018 Mr D Perkins

We presented our Headteacher Sticker Awards a day early today, as tomorrow Year 6 will be leading our Remembrance Assembly at St Marys' Church.

Congratulations to this week's winners for all of their hard work and perseverance that they have shown.
